NEXT GEN Marine HYDROGEN via Zoom - 25 April 2023

The fourth edition of NEXT GEN Marine HYDROGEN Workshop will run via Zoom on 25 April 2023 from 13.00 to 17.00 (UK). A high level industry group will look at the near term potential for Hydrogen, Methanol and Ammonia for maritime.

Topics will include cutting edge experience of the first hydrogen vessels as they commence operations. Both Hydrogen with Fuel Cell and as a Dual Fuel in Internal Combustion Engines (ICE).

Workshop Lead - John Haynes, 'Since running the first edition of NEXT GEN Marine HYDROGEN in October 2021 the world has changed. Energy security and the drive for alternative fuels is now urgent. Obstacles and barriers to hydrogen adoption are rapidly being removed. For marine it is now essential to establish which fuels could cater for each sub-sector and what infrastructure will be required.'

NEXT GEN Marine brings together a dynamic industry group and professional maritime organisations. NEXT GEN programmes combine international marine energy expertise with dynamic Q&A sessions. End-users and industry addressed the opportunities and challenges along with viable technology and readiness levels.

Next generation onboard energy needs to be safe, reliable, improve efficiency and reduce emissions. NEXT GEN Marine HYDROGEN focusses on viable hydrogen technology that is available today or in the very near future. Alongside this, hydrogen infrastructure will need rapid investment - with focus on flexibility and safety.

Significant government funding on both sides of the Atlantic will rapidly build hydrogen infrastructure. Much of this will be around ports, leading to a ready supply of hydrogen for marine power and propulsion. Hydrogen derivatives that will be used as shipping fuels include Ammonia and Methanol.

Expert presenters and dynamic panel discussions examine the facts behind the transport, storage and use of hydrogen. As innovative technology reaches high readiness levels and projects move from concept to application - how can we integrate this with operations at sea and when will it be available?
