NEXT GEN Fast Transit via TEAMS - 13.00 to 17.00 (UK)
NEXT GEN FAST TRANSIT Workshop is being held via TEAMS on 19 May 2026. The highly topical theme is - 'How Can We Improve Safety for Professional Planing Craft?'
This unique workshop will be run over 4 hours from 13:00 to 17:00 (UK) with the main focus on sub 24 metre vessels. Topics are also relevant for 25m to 100m vessels along with High Speed Craft and all vessels that exceed 20 knots.
The workshop includes a superb group of industry experts along with time for dynamic Q&A. Session One looks at Industry Best Practice - Guidance Versus Regulations. Session Two brings in industry solution providers, designers and tech developers. Session Three dives into Human Factors for Manned and Unmanned Vessels.
A common ground for professional mariners is the need to move across the sea in waves. Maintaining 20 knots can be challenging in rough conditions. Some require over 40 knots at night. The shared objective is reducing the risk of injury. After a fast transit people need to be able to perform tasks. Maritime pilots and wind farm technicians climb ladders. Fitness is essential when military or coast guard undertake boarding operations and for SAR to carry out rescues.
The next generation of manned and unmanned vessel operators will need new approaches to speed in waves to protect the people onboard along with sensitive equipment and the hull. We have brought together a group of experts to show that an effective approach to preventing incidents at sea combines experience with awareness of recurring risks.
Workshop Lead - John Haynes, 'From running specialist RS & WBV training for significant maritime organisations it is clear there is an urgent need to have a better understanding of safety, along with first principles of hull design and boat driving skills for the people who will operate the next generation of complex vessels and systems.'
The unique knowledge gained from NEXT GEN presentations and discussions will help to shape decisions that lead to improvements for in-service vessels and procurement of next generation systems that fit the evolving requirements of a changing world.
